Welcome to Wisconsin's Common Core State Standards Center
Wisconsin's Common Core State Standards for English language arts and mathematics provide the foundation for rigorous education designed to prepare all students for success in the global economy. These standards reflect the knowledge and skills necessary for college and career readiness, and provide a clear understanding of what students need to learn, so teachers know what to teach, and parents know what to do to help their children.
In June, 2010, Wisconsin adopted the internationally benchmarked Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and English Language Arts. Wisconsin also adopted Standards for Literacy in All Subjects. These standards provide the framework for a new assessment system beginning in 2014-15. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) team was created to provide leadership and support for the important work of ensuring deep and rich teaching, learning and leading in the areas of English language arts and mathematics. CCSS creates and organizes educator resources through the lenses of innovation, effectiveness and equity. We do this to promote world class, instructionally rich, standards-based teaching and learning. In essence, we create, curate and communicate the CCSS to Wisconsin.
